NZ vs IND 1st T20: India defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the first match of the five-match T20 series at Eden Parks in Auckland on Friday. Shreyas Iyer powered India to an emphatic victory with magnificent half-century. Indian skipper and opener KL Rahul gave a good start after opener Rohit Sharma went back to the pavilion scoring just 7 runs.
KL Rahul smashed 56 runs off just 27 balls including 4 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Virat Kohli’s 45 run innings came out of 32 balls with 3 boundaries and a six. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul added 99 runs for the second wicket. Soon after KL Rahul and Virat Kohli went back to the pavilion, Shreyas Iyer came took the responsibilty finished it off in style.

Iyer scored 58 runs off just 29 balls that include 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. India won the toss and elected to bat first as it feel very comfortable in chasing. New Zealand played tremendous innings featuring half-centuries by Colin Munro, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor. Kiwis set the target of 204 runs for the vistors, which India chased down with an over to spare.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer was awarded the Man of the Match for his phenomenal innings. After the match, Iyer said that “We lost quick wickets, so we had to build partnerships. We knew we can score runs as it was a small ground.”
