Coronavirus and Omicron in India Highlights: India on Wednesday reported 1,94,720 fresh Covid-19 cases, 60,405 recoveries, and 442 deaths in the last 24 hours. Compared to Tuesday, the total number of fresh Covid-19 cases is up by 26,657 (15.8 percent) on Wednesday. India had reported 1,68,063 cases on Wednesday.
The active case tally in India has increased to 9,55,319 while the daily positivity rate has increased to 11.05 percent. The confirmed cases of Omicron in India have increased to 4,868.

While Omicron cases are rising, the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital of Delhi conducted a study on the Omicron variant which shows that the virus is mutating but the disease severity is mild.

LNJP MD said that when positivity is more than 20 percent then it is an alarming situation and it means that people might require beds and ICU for high-risk patients.
