One of two Dy CMs to be from BSP if SAD-BSP came to power in Punjab: Sukhbir Singh Badal
With the Punjab Assembly elections 2022 nearing, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said one of the two Deputy Chief Ministers would be from the BSP in case the SAD-BSP formed the government in Punjab.
Sukhbir Singh Badal was addressing SAD workers at Banga. The Doaba region has a large number of Dalits, who are supporters of the BSP.

Earlier, the SAD, led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, had announced that two MLAs, one from Scheduled Caste and one from the Hindu community, would be sworn as the Deputy CM once it formed the government in Punjab.

"Today it gives me great pleasure to announce on behalf of the SAD-BSP alliance that now one out of two Deputy CMs in our govt will be from the BSP," said Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Notably, the SAD and the BSP have formed an alliance to contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Out of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly, the BSP will contest 20 seats and the SAD will contest the remaining 97.
