6 opposition-ruled States file plea in SC, demand cancellation of JEE-NEET exam

While there are people who want NEET and JEE (Mains) 2020 exams to be postponed, the ministers from 6 states have filed a review petition in the Supreme Court seeking review of August 17 order of the Court and postponement of JEE and NEET exams. The exams are scheduled to be held in September. These states are West Bengal, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Maharashtra. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had said that there was no time to seek time from the Prime Minister to discuss the issue. He had said that "Let us all get together to move the Supreme Court for postponement of the exams, which are threatening the lives of lakhs of students." Likewise, he had pointed out that world over, exams were being held online, he suggested that the JEE/NEET and other professional exams like Medical and Law could also be held online and there was no need to put the students at risk. He said that "Unite your voice with lakhs of suffering students. #SpeakUpForStudentSafety from 10am onwards. Let’s make the Govt listen to the students." Similarly, the members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) were detained by police during a protest against the Centre's decision to conduct JEE and NEET examinations in September. -PTC News
