India, Denmark exchange letters of Intent, MoUs to boost bilateral ties

Copenhagen (Denmark), May 3: India and Denmark exchanged Letters of Intent and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen. Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi and PM Frederiksen held delegation-level talks in Copenhagen to review progress in the Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries. PM Modi also took a private tour of the residence of his Danish counterpart in Copenhagen after he reached the Danish capital for a one-day visit on Tuesday. The Indian Prime Minister's visit will include several engagements including talks with leaders from Nordic countries. The bonhomie between the two leaders mirrors the close ties between India and Denmark," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Twitter. PM Modi was accompanied by his Danish counterpart during the tour. "Conversations in Copenhagen aimed at boosting India-Denmark friendship. PM Frederiksen welcomed PM @narendramodi at Marienborg," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Twitter. This was their first public appearance since Chancellor Scholz took office in December 2021. The two leaders met one-on-one before the Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), the plenary session of which was co-chaired by PM Modi and German chancellor Scholz. PM Modi holds talks with Mette Frederiksen Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told a press conference that the primary pillars of the discussions were the economy, ecology, trade, investment links, and green partnership between India and Germany. In a joint declaration, Germany committed to providing 10 billion euros in new and additional developmental assistance to India until 2030, as part of the two countries' Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) on Green and Sustainable Development Partnership.
