PM Modi speaks to Joe Biden on phone, congratulates him on victory in US elections 2020
Indo-US strategic partnership: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to the US President-elect Joe Biden on phone. He congratulated Biden and Kamala Harris on victory in the US elections 2020.
Both PM Narendra Modi and Joe Biden reiterated their firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership.
"Spoke to US President-elect Joe Biden on phone to congratulate him. We reiterated our firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed our shared priorities and concerns - Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Region," he said.

"I also conveyed warm congratulations for VP-elect Kamala Harris. Her success is a matter of great pride and inspiration for members of the vibrant Indian-American community, who are a tremendous source of strength for Indo-US relations," he added.
Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Ambassador of India to the US, said "During the conversation, PM Modi and US President-elect Biden exchanged views on global strategic partnership and Indo-Pacific region and discussed COVID-19. They also discussed the role of healthcare and pharmaceuticals particularly vaccines."

"During the conversation, PM Modi also extended warm congratulations for Vice President-elect Kamala Harris."
He said that "This is a proud moment for Indian-Americans in the US. She is a source of inspiration and India is also very proud of her achievement."
"In 2014, when PM Modi was on his first official visit to the US, it was then VC Biden who hosted official lunch for him. In 2016 during PM's address to US Congress, it was VC Biden who presided over the joint session. So they very warmly recall those interactions," he said further.
