Priyanka Gandhi's husband to run against Smriti Irani? Robert Vadra hints at contesting LS polls
PTC News Desk: Robert Vadra, the husband of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, stated on Thursday that the people of Amethi want him to run for the constituency against sitting MP Smriti Irani.
"The people of Amethi realised their mistake. And now I believe they want a Gandhi family member to represent the constituency. Even Amethi people have told me that if I go into politics, I should represent Amethi. My first political campaign with Priyanka was in Amethi in 1999," Robert Vadra said.
"Amethi is upset with the current MP, and the people of Amethi have realised their mistake. The sitting MP is abusing her power by making a lot of noise and accusing the Gandhi family. For years, the Gandhi family worked tirelessly in Raebareli, Amethi, and Sultanpur. Now that Amethi people are repenting for electing Smriti Irani over Rahul Gandhi, I believe they want a Gandhi family member to represent them. They have approached me to consider Amethi if I want to be an MP," Robert Vadra said.

"The people with whom I worked are still in touch with me. They wish me happy birthday and contact me through social media. They know how involved I am in charity, so they organise similar camps on my birthdays," Vadra added.
Amethi became a hot seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha election after Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi, who had held the seat for decades. Rahul Gandhi won Amethi in 2004, 2009, and 2014, but Smriti Irani broke that record.
The Congress has yet to announce a candidate for Amethi and Raebarelli.
