Punjab Lok Sabha Elections 2024 HIGHLIGHTS | Voting ends ; 55.20% voter turnout till 5 pm | WATCH EXCLUSIVE EXIT POLL

Top journalists and political experts are predicting a 5% to 6% increase in voter turnout by the end of the day, since voters were still at polling booths after 6 pm. While Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh have experienced high voter turnout, Punjab has comparatively seen less enthusiasm among its voters.
The multi-cornered contest, internal party dissent and shifting loyalties have created uncertainty among voters, which might have led to a noticeable lack of excitement.
On the other hand, heatwave is also being considered as major factor behind the low voter turnout in Punjab.
Each constituency has seen candidates changing parties.
In the 2019 elections, Congress emerged victorious in eight out of the 13 seats in Punjab, while BJP, SAD, and AAP secured the remaining five. In 2014, the results were more dispersed, with SAD and AAP each winning four seats, Congress three, and BJP two.
