Addressing a press conference, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, stated that the BJP's failure to secure a majority is a "moral defeat" for Prime Minister Modi.

"This is 'janta ka result'...this mandate is against Modi ji. This is his moral and political defeat," said Mallikarjun Kharge.

The Congress leader also accused the BJP of capturing central agencies and using them against the opposition.

"The opposition fought against the BJP, which had captured the country's institutions, including the judiciary. We fought this election not only against the BJP, but also against the country's institutions, governance structure, intelligence agencies (CBI and EDI), and judiciary, all of which were captured by Amit Shah and Narendra Modi ji," Rahul Gandhi stated.

"The fight was to uphold the Constitution. I'd like to thank the alliance partners. You have taken the first step towards saving the Constitution," he stated.

Rahul on chances of INDIA forming govt

When asked if the INDIA bloc would pitch to form a government at the Centre, Rahul Gandhi stated that there would be a meeting of the Opposition alliance leaders, and the next course of action would be decided after that.

When asked which seat he would choose after winning in Rae Bareli and Wayanad, he thanked the people of both constituencies and stated that he would consult with people before making a decision.
