Submit electoral bonds data by November 15: Election Commission tells parties
Electoral bonds: The Election Commission of India has reminded all political parties that they must submit details of donations received through electoral bonds by November 15 at 5 p.m. The reminder, issued on Tuesday, reaffirms its November 3 order, which was issued in response to the Supreme Court's November 2 order.
The Supreme Court had ordered the ECI to submit details of all electoral bonds issued since the scheme's inception in a sealed packet by November 19.
The ECI has directed all political parties to provide details of donors against each bond, "the amount of each such bond and the full particulars of the credit received against each bond, namely, the particulars of the bank account to which the amount has been credited and the date of each such credit" in accordance with an April 2019 interim order, which was reiterated by the Supreme Court in the November 2023 order.
Political parties must send this information in a "double sealed cover" marked "Confidential-Electoral Bond" to Binod Kumar, secretary, election expenditure division, ECI.
