'Totally illegal': Arvind Kejriwal on Sanjay Singh's arrest
PTC News Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday termed the arrest of AAP leader Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate as "totally illegal" and said it shows the "frustration" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The arrest of Sanjay Singh is totally illegal. This shows Modiji's frustration. They will arrest many more opposition leaders till the elections," AAP's national convenor said.
Sanjay Singh was arrested after a day-long interrogation at his Delhi residence by ED officials. He was eventually taken to the ED.
Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh's party colleague and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, was also arrested in the liquor policy scam case and is currently in jail.
The CBI detained Sisodia on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam.
The central investigation agency stormed Sanjay Singh's home on Wednesday morning in connection with the now-cancelled liquor excise policy in Delhi. The development came after the ED raided the premises of Sanjay Singh's close aides.
The Delhi excise policy controversy involves charges that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 allowed cartelisation and favoured specific dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, an allegation that the AAP has strongly denied.
The ED has filed five chargesheets in the matter so far, including one against Sisodia.
