PTC Web Desk: Ajnala town was gripped by shock late Friday evening after two masked assailants shot dead a local medical store owner in a brazen attack. The victim, identified as Taranjeet Singh, was returning home on his motorcycle after closing his shop when the attackers intercepted him on the way and opened fire. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
According to the victim’s brother, Karamjeet Singh, the family had received phone threats nearly a year ago, for which a complaint had been lodged with the police. He urged the authorities to arrest the culprits at the earliest and deliver justice to the family.
Following the incident, the police reached the spot, recovered around five empty bullet shells, and began a probe. Senior police official Harchand Singh confirmed that CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to trace the suspects. “We will soon arrest the real perpetrators,” he assured.
The killing has once again raised concerns about rising crime in the region, despite increased police presence.
