PTC Web Desk: Unidentified armed assailants allegedly opened fire on an advocate, identified as Vineet Mahajan, as he was travelling from Batala Road to Kashmir Avenue in Amritsar. He along with his wife Sonia Mahajan narrowly escaped the attack.

According to information, the couple was returning home from their hotel when two men on a scooter intercepted their vehicle and opened fire. Four bullets pierced the front windshield of the car, but the couple managed to avoid injury by ducking down.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Varinder Singh Khosa said an investigation was underway, with CCTV footage being analysed to identify the suspects. Vineet Mahajan said, as part of their routine, he and his wife had visited Gopal Mandir before heading to their hotel on Batala Road.

While returning home, two scooter-borne assailants, with their faces covered, suddenly appeared in front of their car. The pillion rider then drew a pistol and fired multiple shots, which penetrated the front windshield and struck the car seats.

Further investigations are on.
