Amritsar illuminates on Guru Ramdas Ji’s Parkash Purab, lakhs of devotees pay obeisance at Golden Temple

PTC News Desk: On the auspicious occasion of Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad are paying obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib today. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has made elaborate preparations to facilitate the influx of devotees at the Golden Temple, ensuring smooth arrangements for accommodation, transport, and community services.


The city of Amritsar is illuminating with festive lights radiating spiritual fervour, with every nnook and corner resonating with Gurbani. The devotees will celebrate the occassion with over one lakh earthen lamps and colourful candles along the sacred sarovar, culminating in a spectacular, pollution-free fireworks display after Rehras Sahib.

Earlier on Tuesday, a grand nagar kirtan was organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) with the support of various religious societies and local congregations  to mark the Parkash Purab of fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ramdas Ji. The procession commenced from Sri Akal Takht Sahib following Ardas.

Sacred Guru Granth Sahib Ji was beautifully adorned in a palki, a service performed by Sri Harmandir Sahib’s head granthi, Giani Raghbir Singh. Thousands of devotees participated, chanting “Satnam Waheguru” and paying homage to Guru Ramdas Ji, accompanied by the SGPC members, officials, and the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgaj. The Nagar Kirtan also featured police bands and Gatka performances, adding to the spiritual and festive atmosphere.
