Arrest of Lawrance Bishnoi's operative: SAS Nagar police achieves significant breakthrough
SAS Nagar, October 22: In an ongoing effort to combat criminal activity and gang-related offenses, the SAS Nagar Police achieved a significant breakthrough as a Zirakpur Police team successfully apprehended Amandeep Singh, alias "Mani Topi." Mani Topi is an operative associated with the notorious gangster Lawrance Bishnoi and was arrested in Zirakpur today, as confirmed by Dr. Sandeep Garg, IPS, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for SAS Nagar.
Addressing the media, SSP Garg revealed that Mani Topi, a key accused in the high-profile murder case of Meet Bouncer, a member of the rival Bambiha Gang, in 2017, had been facing charges in approximately six serious criminal cases registered in both Punjab and Haryana. Most recently, he was a wanted individual in an attempted murder case under the jurisdiction of the Zirakpur Police Station.
Providing further details, the SSP highlighted that a special team, under the supervision of Sh. Manpreet Singh, PPS, SP(R), and under the guidance of Sh. Bikramjit Singh Brar, PPS, DSP Zirakpur, had diligently gathered crucial information about the accused, including potential locations of concealment.
Acting on this vital information, a well-coordinated operation was planned, with Inspector Simarjeet Singh, SHO Zirakpur, leading the team. The operation was executed, and the team successfully apprehended the accused at one of his suspected hideouts in Zirakpur. During the subsequent search for weapons, the accused attempted to flee custody, resulting in a failed escape bid and a broken leg. One .30 caliber pistol was seized from the accused during the operation.
In response to this development, a fresh FIR, numbered 314 and dated October 22, 2023, was registered at PS Zirakpur under sections 25 of the Arms Act, along with sections 224, 511, 186, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Ongoing investigations are currently underway to further assess the situation.
