Ban on 4-wheelers for PU hostelers? Student council president gives strong warning
PTC News Desk: Panjab University authorities have imposed a ban on four-wheelers for hostel residents, threatening to cancel their admission if they fail to comply. Following this, the president of the Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) issued a strong warning to university officials.
What's the matter?
The PU administration has prohibited hostel residents from bringing or keeping four-wheelers in their hostels. The same has been mentioned in the University's rule book of 2023-24.
The authorities issued an order on Tuesday, instructing hostel wardens to ensure enforcement of the rule by November 16. The authorities also threatened the cancellation of hostel admission if students failed to comply with the rules.
"...if any vehicle of hostel residents is found in and around the hostel after November 16, their admission in the hostel will be cancelled," the order read. Further action will be taken as per University rule, it added.
Student council president gives strong warning
Reacting to the order, Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) president Jatinder Singh has given a strong warning to PU authorities against the ban.
The student council president has threatened to stop the vehicles of professors, top PU officials, and even the Vice Chancellor. In a strong message, he stated that the PU belongs to students and that if students face any difficulties, the council will not remain silent.
