Five-year-old girl among nine dead, several criticially injured in bus-car collision in Punjab's Hoshiarpur

PTC Web Desk: In a tragic road accident on the Hajipur road near Sagran village in Dasuya, Hoshiapur district, Punjab, a deadly collision between a private bus and a car claimed the lives of eight persons and left several others seriously injured on Monday. The accident occurred when the bus was en route from Talwara to Dasuya.

Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was so intense that both vehicles were severely damaged. Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the injured to the Civil Hospital in Dasuya.


According to reports, seven persons died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Dasuya, with critically wounded patients referred to Government Medical College, Amritsar, and a private hospital in Hoshiarpur.

MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik visited the injured at Dasuya Civil Hospital and expressed deep condolences to the families affected. They assured that every effort would be made to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and support for the bereaved.

Addressing the media, the MLA and the DC said the Punjab Government will provide ex-gratia assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The injured will also receive compensation as per official norms, and all medical treatment is being provided free of charge.

The deceased have been identified as Raju Bala (5), Love Kumar (50), Gurmeet Ram (65), Satwinder Kaur (55), Balbir Kaur (60), Sanjeev Kumar (30), Meena (30), Subag Rani (55) and one unidentified individual aged 50. As many as 33 persons sustained injuries in the mishap. Among them, six were discharged after primary treatment, while three were referred to advanced facilities, and 24 are still receiving treatment at Civil Hospital Dasuya.

The injured include: Mahinder Singh, Sahil Minhas, Sheetal, Ritika Thakur, Ritish, Namrata Bhatia, Gurdeep Singh, Tilak Raj, Tanvi, Neelam Kumar, Sukhwinder, Neeraj Chaudhary, Neelam, Prince, Surinder Singh, Mamta, Kavish, Preeti, Reena Devi, Manish, Preeti Rani, Vikram Singh, Arvind Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Tripta Devi, Neetu Bala, Pooja, Raj Rani, Sanjeev Singh and Khushi Mehta.
