Lakhs of devotees to pay obeisance at Golden Temple on Guru Ramdas Ji’s Parkash Purab; SGPC makes extensive arrangements

PTC Web Desk: On the auspicious occasion of Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad are expected to pay obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib on October 8. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has made elaborate preparations to facilitate the influx of devotees at the Golden Temple, ensuring smooth arrangements for accommodation, transport, and community services.

Gurpreet Singh, manager of SGPC’s sarais, said considering the rising number of devotees, several additional arrangements have been put in place. The SGPC has readied all its major inns, including Sri Guru Arjan Dev Niwas, Mata Ganga Ji Niwas, Guru Gobind Singh Niwas, Baba Deep Singh Niwas, Mata Bhag Kaur Niwas, Saragarhi Niwas, and the NRI Sarai, with special focus on the comfort and priority needs of the pilgrims.

Apart from these sarais, extra lodging facilities have been created at nearby schools, Bhai Gurdas Hall, and other buildings near the Golden Temple. Significantly, the Amritsar Hotel Association has extended its support, with several hoteliers offering their rooms free of cost for pilgrims. Some hotels are also providing complimentary meals, breakfast, and other services.

Separate rooms have also been reserved in major sarais for elderly devotees and women. In addition, battery-operated vehicles have been arranged to transport devotees between sarais and the Golden Temple for hassle-free access.

The SGPC has also appealed to devotees to participate in large numbers in all spiritual programmes being held to mark the occasion, including Nagar Kirtan, Raagi Darbar, Kavi Darbar, and other devotional gatherings, to seek the blessings of Guru Ramdas Ji.
