Guru Tegh Bahadur Parkash Purab 2023 :  Guru Tegh Bahadur Parkash Purab 2023 is celebrated to mark the birth of the Ninth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Tegh Bahadur and to remember his life and teachings. This year it is being observed on April 11, 2023. 

Who is Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji ? 


Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is the ninth Sikh Guru, was born on 01 April 1621 in Amritsar, to the sixth Guru Hargobind Ji and Mata Nanaki Ji.  

He grew up to be a brave young man and displayed considerable courage in the battles against Mughals. His father gave him the title of "Tegh Bahadur", meaning "Mighty of Sword", in recognition of his bravery. 

He is widely regarded as the saviour guru. Guru Tegh Bahadur is considered to be an honourable scholar and poet who greatly contributed to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhism.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Parkash Purab 2023: Significance 

The Parkash Purab is celebrated to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur's birth anniversary. Born as Tyaga Mal, he is widely regarded as the saviour guru who relentlessly fought for religious freedom.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, people, especially the Sikh community, holds religious processions, organise Shabad Kirtans and read about his life’s work. They also visit Gurdwaras and distribute food.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Parkash Purab 2023: Political leaders extend greetings 

The whole nation is celebrating the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Purab of ‘Hind Di Chadar’ Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on Tuesday. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle to extend greetings on the occasion and wrote, “I bow to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his Parkash Purab. His unparalleled courage and commitment to values of truth as well as justice are very motivating. Sharing my speech from last year at the programme to mark his 400th Parkash Purab at the Red Fort.”

  

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also took to his Twitter handle to extend the wishes on Guru Teg Bahadur Ji birth anniversary.

 

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal took to Twitter to extend greetings on the occasion 

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is the personification of supreme sacrifice, courage, universal brotherhood, equality, and righteousness. Therefore the  entire nation is paying respect to the 'Hind Di Chadar'.
