Jalandhar horror: Alcoholic man slams, strangles five-year-old daughter to death over cries for food
PTC News Desk: A terrifying case has emerged from Jalandhar where an alcoholic man brutally killer her fiver-year-old daughter due to her desperate cries for food.
The heartbreaking incident took place in Doordarshan Enclave, Jalandhar.
The accused identified as Arvinder Singh hails from Chhattisgarh and used to work as daily wage labourer. Police have arrested the accused, and a court has remanded him to two-day police custody.
The incident unfolded on February 3 when child Niharika's mother had gone to work and she was with her father, who was drinking at that time.
At around 2:30 pm, Niharika started crying due to her prolonged hunger. Arvinder, who was intoxicated, could not tolerate the child’s crying. He first tried to silence her by pouring alcohol into her mouth. When she cried even louder, he picked up the child and repeatedly slammed her onto the ground. Despite sustaining serious injuries and continuing to sob, the accused strangled her to death.
The innocent child, Niharika, died on the spot.
When Niharika’s mother returned home from work in the evening, she was devastated on seeing the body of her only child. Acting on a complaint by the child’s uncle, Himmat Kumar, the police took immediate action.
During the investigation, it emerged that the family was in severe financial distress and Arvinder’s addiction had destroyed the family. The police presented the accused before a court, which sent him to two days of police custody for detailed interrogation.
