Jalandhar: Three minor girls go missing from Sunder Nagar; police launch probe, CCTV footage being scanned
PTC Web Desk: Three minor girls residing in the same quarter in Sunder Nagar, Jalandhar, went missing under suspicious circumstances on Monday evening, prompting a swift police response and an ongoing investigation.
The missing girls include two sisters aged 12 and 13, and their 16-year-old friend. The sisters are students of Class IV and Class V, respectively.
According to family members, they discovered that the girls were missing when they returned home from work around 5:30 pm on Monday. The parents said they had left for work in the morning as usual, leaving the children at home. Upon returning, they found the house empty.
The families immediately began searching for the girls in the surrounding area but were unable to trace them. Subsequently, they alerted the police.
Acting on information received from the control room, a team from Police Division No. 8, along with ACP North Ashok Meena, reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
ACP North Ashok Meena stated that upon reaching the location, the parents informed the police that the girls had been at home when they left for work in the morning. However, CCTV cameras installed near the house showed the three minors leaving the residence together at around 1:30 pm.
Police teams are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and collecting further evidence to ascertain the circumstances behind the disappearance. Officials said appropriate action is being taken and efforts are underway to trace the missing girls at the earliest.
