PTC News Desk: A 35-year-old gym owner was injured on Thursday morning when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at him in the parking lot near Franco Hotel in Phase 2, Mohali, close to Chandigarh, police said. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived on a sports bike around 5 am and suddenly began firing at a Maruti Baleno car in which the victim, identified as Vicky, was seated.
Startled by the gunfire, bystanders scrambled for safety as multiple shots rang out. The assailants quickly fled the scene. CCTV footage later confirmed that at least five rounds had been fired.
Vicky was struck in the leg by one of the bullets. Onlookers rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The site of the attack bore grim evidence of the violence, with bloodstains on the road, shattered glass, and a broken car mirror scattered around.
The incident left local residents deeply shaken, especially since the Franco Hotel area is regarded as one of the town’s safer localities. They voiced concern over how the attackers managed to escape so easily after discharging multiple shots.
