Mohali MC crackdown on illegal encroachments in residential, public areas
PTC News Desk: The Mohali Municipal Corporation, along with the police and GMADA, has launched a bulldozer drive to remove encroachments made by residents in front of their houses, as well as in green belts, markets, footpaths and other public spaces.
During the operation, hedges, flower beds and even parking spaces built on government land are being removed. The corporation had already issued warnings to residents about this matter. The drive has now begun following those notices. According to officials, the encroachments must be cleared at any cost.
High Court orders issued on January 13
This action is being carried out following the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s order issued on January 13. After completing the operation, the corporation will submit its report to the High Court. The Municipal Corporation has also warned residents and encroachers to remove the illegal structures themselves immediately. Public notices have been issued regarding this.
Entire operation being recorded on video
The Municipal Corporation started the drive from Phase 7. The entire operation is being videographed. A heavy police presence has been deployed. According to officials, these encroachments have existed for a long time, causing inconvenience to the public. There is always a risk of accidents, and in emergencies, rescue vehicles are unable to reach the area. For these reasons, the administration considers this drive necessary. The action will continue until all illegal constructions are removed.
