Mohali: Over 150 patients examined for eye ailments during free checkup camp at Polyclinic Parch

Mohali, August 19: In collaboration with Sahibzada Ajit Singh Free Polyclinic Trust, Khanak Welfare Foundation, Chandigarh, organised a free eye checkup camp at Polyclinic Parch. The camp aimed to extend medical assistance to rural residents of surrounding villages who face difficulty in accessing major hospitals such as PGIMR for their eye check-ups.

Jaspreet Kaur, founder and director of Khanak Welfare Foundation, emphasised their commitment to reaching out to rural communities in need of free vision screening, glaucoma screening, refractive assessments, and the provision of free eyeglasses and medications.



Yogesh, a dedicated volunteer of the foundation, said a team of eye specialists and paramedical staff from PGIMR, led by Dr Ashok Singh, an eye specialist, examined the patients and prescribed medications.



As many as 150 patients from nearby villages registered for various eye-related issues.

Dr Ashok Singh from the PGI emphasised the importance of regular eye examinations to prevent vision loss and various eye disorders. He raised awareness about eye care and addressed concerns such as redness, dryness, and excessive watering.

Chairman of the Trust Balbir Singh said all patients received free medications. As many as 16 patients were identified for cataract surgeries, which would be performed free of cost.
