Overspeeding car rams into tree leaving bride dead, groom critically injured in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib
PTC News Desk: A car in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib met with a serious accident leaving the bride dead and groom in critical condition. The couple had gotten married just on Sunday. After the wedding, they were on their way to visit relatives.
The reason behind the accident has not been ascertained yet, however the preliminary reports indicate overspeeding as cause of the tragic accident.
According to the information, Amardeep Kaur (21) from Basi Pathana married Gurmukh Singh (21) from Dubali, Fatehgarh Sahib, on Sunday. After their wedding, they went to meet relatives. On Tuesday night around 9 pm, they were returning home to Fatehgarh Sahib.
The accident reportedly occured on the Manupur Balada Road when the overspeeding car crashed into a tree and triggered a loud explosion like noise. Locals rushed to the spot and pulled the couple out of the car. However, the bride, Amardeep Kaur, had already died. The groom, Gurmukh Singh, was seriously injured and was first taken to a local hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred further, and the family later admitted him to Sector 32 Hospital in Chandigarh.
SHO Harkirat Singh of Badali Ala Singh police station in Fatehgarh Sahib said that initial investigation indicates that the car may have been overspeeding. The police are also conducting a technical inspection of the vehicle. Efforts are being made to record the groom’s statement. A case has also been registered and further investigation is underway.
