Patiala school teacher suspended after medical report indicates sexual abuse of 8-year-old girl
PTC Web Desk: A medical report has indicated that an eight-year-old student was subjected to repeated abuse, days after allegations surfaced against a physical education teacher at a school in SST Nagar.
Police officials said after the medical findings, investigators have sent the accused teacher’s DNA sample for further examination. The FIR, registered on October 13, mentions that the student was allegedly harassed multiple times within the school premises.
SP (City) Palwinder Cheema said a detailed investigation was underway under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. “The medical report has confirmed the abuse, and the accused has been arrested after being identified by the child. We have also collected CCTV footage and questioned the school staff,” Cheema said.
Police sources said they were seeking assistance from government counsellors and the District Child Protection Office to verify whether any other student might have faced similar issues.
Lahori Gate SHO Shivraj Singh said police teams had visited the school to gather evidence and record statements. “The school has been asked to share details of all employees. The investigation will also look into whether any other student was affected,” he added.
School principal Chinmayie confirmed that the accused teacher had been suspended.
