Notably, the work of recruiting ambulance employees has been entrusted to a private company. Drivers and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) raised slogans against that private company and Punjab Government near Ladowal Toll Plaza. The drivers said that their strike would continue until the government gives concrete assurance regarding their demands.
Due to the strike of the ambulance drivers, patients in Punjab are facing great many difficulties. Pregnant women and other patients had to resort to autos, rickshaws and private ambulances to reach the civil hospital.
