Punjab Gatka Association concludes two-day 7th state championship with ‘Khalsai Jaho-Jalal’

Chandigarh, November 25: The two-day 7th Punjab State Gatka Championship being organized by the Punjab Gatka Association under the leadership of the Gatka Federation of India at Ratwara Saheb near Chandigarh concluded on Friday with full "Khalsai Jaho-Jalal".  Renowned businessman SP Oberoi, Chairman of Sarbat da Bhala Trust and Chairman of the Asian Gatka Federation Association, was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, President of the Punjab Gatka Association welcomed SP Oberoi on his arrival.  He appreciated the timely efforts made by Mr. Oberoi to make Gatka an international sport and to encourage children to join Gatka as a professional game.

Thanking all the players and their respective coaches who accompanied them on the occasion from all the districts of Punjab, Sohal said, "The association is working sincerely to take this heritage game of Punjab to the next generation. In such a situation, the guidance of a great personality like SP Oberoi is no less than a boon for us."

On this occasion, SP Oberoi and Harcharan Singh Bhullar President of Gatka Federation of India, distributed prizes to the winning teams and encouraged the players. 

"I am always available for service to connect our future generations with this heritage game." SP Oberoi said.

Baljinder Singh Toor, General Secretary, Gatka Federation of India informed about the winning teams that Ludhiana district stood first, Malerkotla district second, and Patiala district third.

On this occasion MMS Bedi Retired Judge Punjab Haryana Court,  Baba Sukhwinder Singh, Jagseer Singh Mann President of Gatka Association Chandigarh, Davinder Singh Jugni Vice President of Punjab Gatka Association, Principal Kuldeep Singh Finance Secretary, Jagdish Singh Kurali, Uttam Kumar GM Verka  Milk Plant, Jagkiran Kaur Waraich Joint Secretary, Manjit Singh Gatka Master Vice President Gatka Federation of India, Manvinder Singh Vicky Technical Incharge Gatka Federation of India, Prabhmeet Singh Media Incharge, Chanchal Singh Saini General Secretary Punjab Congress, Gurvinder Singh were present. During this special thanks were also given to Verka Chandigarh GM for providing refreshments to the children.
