Punjab govt accedes to demands of Roadways, PUNBUS contractual staff; strike to end soon

Chandigarh, December 20: After 5-day long stir, Punjab Roadways, PunBus and PRTC Contract Workers Union on Tuesday reached conclusion in a meeting held with Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua. In the meeting many issues such as permanent recruitment of contractual  employees, reformation of customary hierarchy by forming committees,uniformity in salary and 5% increase were discussed and resolved.

An agreement has been reached in this regard and orders have been given to the department to find solutions to all demands, including the restoration of the dismissed employees, and at the time of forming the committees, regarding which a meeting will be held with the Secretary State Transport Punjab on December 27. 


Earlier, Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua gave a patient hearing to all demands of the Punjab Roadways PUNBUS and PRTC Contract Workers Union and directed the Principal Secretary of the Punjab Transport Department to consider these demands sympathetically.

Accepting an important demand of the union, the Punjab Chief Secretary issued orders to the Secretary Transport to review the cases of employees, who were fired for any reason and do justice to all.
