Punjab: Undertrial escapes in filmy style from Ludhiana court, police launch search
PTC Web Desk: In a dramatic turn of events, an undertrial prisoner managed to escape from police custody at a Ludhiana court complex on Saturday. The accused, identified as Balwinder Singh alias Bindu, a resident of Tarn Taran, fled in a filmy style after deceiving the escorting policeman.
According to sources, the undertrial had his leg wrapped in a bandage when he was brought from jail for a court appearance. Believing he was injured, the police guard reportedly lowered his guard. Pretending to limp, the accused suddenly sprinted away just before entering the court premises.
Police teams have been formed to track down the accused. Balwinder Singh is facing two cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the first registered on February 26, 2025, and the second on March 25, 2025.
