PTC Web Desk: Following the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan at 5 pm on Saturday, peace has returned to the Punjab border areas adjacent to Pakistan. No attacks have been reported in the state since 10 am on Saturday, marking a significant de-escalation in hostilities.

Earlier in the morning, Pakistan had launched an attack on Pathankot, but due to India’s strong defense preparedness, the situation remained under control. Despite the ceasefire, the Indian Army remains on high alert in border districts.

In response to the ceasefire, several restrictions, including blackouts, have been lifted in major cities like Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ropar, Moga, Kapurthala, Barnala, and Amritsar. In Ferozepur, while the blackout has been called off, the ban on flying drones remains in place.

Prior to the ceasefire, the Indian Army responded forcefully to Pakistani aggression over a span of three days. Pakistan had targeted both military installations and civilian areas. However, India’s air defense systems successfully neutralised every attempted strike.

During this three-day escalation, Pakistan launched attacks across 12 districts in Punjab. The six border districts affected were Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran. Additionally, airstrikes were reported in Bathinda, Jalandhar, Mansa, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, and Hoshiarpur. Pakistan used drones, rockets, and missiles in these offensives.

On Friday, Pakistani forces also attempted attacks on the Pathankot and Adampur airbases using high-speed missiles, resulting in minor damage. Their attempts to destroy these bases were thwarted by India's vigilant defense forces.

The Amritsar administration announced there would be no blackout following the ceasefire.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the state does not consider the ceasefire permanent. “We will continue our preparations and strengthen our defense. We plan to deploy anti-drone systems and build on the lessons learned during these critical days,” he added.
