Rajvir Jawanda laid to rest: Fans bid teary-eyed farewell to their beloved singer in Ludhiana village

PTC News Desk: Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda was cremated with full state honours in his native village in Ludhiana's Jagraon on Thursday. Besides his family and friends, thousands of his fans gathered to pay their last respects to their beloved singer. 


Rajvir Jawanda always kept his personal life under wraps. He leaves behind his mother, wife and two children. He has passed away at the age of 35. 

The atmosphere at the cremation ground turned sombre as his funeral pyre was lit. 

His mother, Paramjit Kaur popularly, known as village sarpanch was grieving inconsolably. Her son's death adds another layer to the prevailing grief of earlier losing her husband, Karam Singh, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police, who passed away a few years ago.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also reached Pona village to attend singer's last rites. Several other singers from across the singing fraternity including Satinder Sartaj, Kulwinder Billa, Ammy Virk, Kanwar Grewal were also present 


Ahead of the funeral procession, several heightened security measures were put in place in view of the influx of mourners who had gathered to have a final glimpse of late Punjabi singer. 

Rajvir Jawanda's mortal remains were brought to his native village in Ludhiana's Jagraon village for antim darshan.  

The Punjab singer died of multi-organ failure on October 8 after 11-days long battle for life following a major road accident in Himachal Pradesh. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in an 'extremely critical' condition on September 27. The accident caused extensive damage beyond repair to his spine and brain. 

 

In a tragic turn of events his wife's worst fears came true and his passion ultimately turned out to be his 'last ride', leaving behinda legacy unmatched.
