Sikh body protests against Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' at Jalandhar's MBD Mall; to file case against actor
PTC News Desk: Sikh Jathebandis protested an upcoming Bollywood film at the PVR in MBD Mall, Jalandhar. The film 'Emergency', starring Kangana Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has sparked rage in the Sikh community.
The protesters stated that the film contains derogatory remarks about the Sikh community. They are protesting against the release of the 'Emergency' in the country and will file a case against Kangana Ranaut in Jalandhar.
Sikh Talmel committee official Harpal Singh Chadha stated, "This film is anti-Sikh and shows atrocities against our community. Kangana Ranaut has already made statements against Sikhs, and we will not allow this."
Notably, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has demanded an immediate ban on the film, claiming it is "anti-Sikh." The committee has also asked that an FIR be filed against Ranaut, accusing her of "character assassinating Sikhs" in the film's portrayal.
Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the SGPC, expressed his concerns in a detailed post on social media. He criticised the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for approving the movie and urged that a Sikh representative be added to the board to ensure fair future assessments.
