This holy place with beautiful architecture evokes feeling of calmness: President Murmu on her visit to Golden Temple
Amritsar, March 9: President Droupadi Murmu paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Thursday. She was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Harjinder Singh Dhami.
President Droupadi Murmu also listened to ‘kirtan’.
"I am happy to visit Sri Harmandar Sahib and pay obeisance at the holy temple. This holy place with beautiful architecture and divine serenity around it evokes feelings of...May the teachings of Gurus continue to inspire us...," she mentioned in the visitor's book at Sri Harmandar Sahib.
Earlier, she was received by Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Bhagwant Mann at the Amritsar airport. Later in the day, he President will also be visiting Jallianwala Bagh and Durgiana temple.
Her flight back to the national capital will take off from the Amritsar airport at 4.30 pm
On the occasion, Advocate Dhami handed over two memoranda to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh prisoners) and repeal of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act, 2014.
