Union Minister of State Som Prakash reviews newly built Adampur airport building in Jalandhar
PTC Web Desk: Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash on Monday reviewed the newly constructed Adampur airport building. The airport is all set to be operational for civil flights.
Once functional, the Adampur airport will give a further boost to the economic development of Punjab region in general and Jalandhar city in particular. Besides, it would also help save time, money and energy of the people, especially NRIs.
"The Adampur airport will soon be operational for civil flights," this assurance was given by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in response to a detailed letter written by his colleague in the Cabinet Som Parkash on October 31 last.
Notably, last year, Union Minister of State Som Prakash had written a detailed letter to his colleague Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, following which the latter had given an assurance that civil flights would soon be resumed from the Adampur airport soon.
Earlier, Jalandhar’s Adampur airport was facing certain hiccups over land acquisition. It needed at least 40 acres of land. The airport had been serving the Indian Air force before.
Chairing a review meeting of the Civil Aviation Department earlier, Punjab Chief Minister had also claimed that the state government was committed to restarting flights at the airport by March-end to facilitate the people.
