Bodybuilder Varinder Ghuman died of sudden cardiac arrest after shoulder surgery: Fortis Amritsar issues statement
PTC Web Desk: Renowned bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman tragically passed away yesterday evening following a surgical procedure at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar.
In a statement issued today, the hospital authorities said Ghuman, who had no known comorbidities, visited the hospital’s OPD on October 6, 2025, complaining of pain and restricted movement in his right shoulder. After clinical evaluation, doctors recommended an arthroscopic rotator cuff repair along with biceps tenodesis.
The procedure was carried out under general anaesthesia on October 9, 2025, and was reported to be uneventful. However, at approximately 3.35 PM, Ghuman developed a sudden cardiac arrhythmia. Medical teams, including anaesthesia, cardiology, cardiac anaesthesia, and critical care specialists, immediately initiated advanced resuscitation measures. Despite sustained efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 5.36 pm.
Fortis Escorts Hospital expressed deep regret over the untimely demise and extended heartfelt condolences to Ghuman’s family and his fans. The bodybuilder’s sudden death has shocked the fitness community, with many expressing grief and remembering his remarkable contributions to bodybuilding.
