Punjab CM Channi urges PM Modi to repeal farm laws

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. It was his first meeting with the Prime Minister after first taking over as the Chief Minister of Punjab. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi requested PM Narendra Modi to withdraw the three controversial farm laws. He said thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, had been protesting at the Delhi borders for 10 months, demanding the repeal of the three farm laws. He said, "Since agriculture is the main source of farmers' income, I have asked the Prime Minister to help find a solution to the problem as farmers are protesting over the three controversial farm laws." Punjab CM Channi said he also urged the PM to reopen Kartarpur Corridor, which had been lying shut due to Covid-19 pandemic. Charanjit Singh Channi is also likely to meet senior Congress leaders during his visit to Delhi amid the Punjab Congress crisis.
