Chandigarh, April 21: Congress leader Navjot Sidhu along with two former MLAs Navtej Cheema and Ashwani Sekhri met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday to discuss burning issues of the state. Punjab Congess leader Navjot Sidhu tweeted: "Memorandum to the Hon’ble Governor Punjab on the burning issues of Punjab… It resonates people’s voice… He gave us patient hearing , said he’s looking into the matter.. Will even go to Delhi for Punjab, Punjabiyat and the rights of Punjabis…" He listed the deteriorating law and order situation, politicisation of Punjab Police, looming power crisis and Rs 500 bonus for wheat growers as the main issues in his memorandum submitted to Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. He also flayed the Punjab Government for issuing advertisements in newspapers outside the state at a time when the state's financial condition is not good. He also wanted to know the current status of the thermal plants in the state and what efforts were being made to ensure coal supply to them. He said in the coming two months, power demand would be 16,000 kilowatt during the paddy sowing season. He questioned the government as to how they planned on meeting the rise in demand.
