Punjab government, on Friday, declared a public holiday in Gurdaspur, Kapurthala and Amritsar on November 9 for celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. India and Pakistan have initiated historic steps to open Kartarpur Corridor ahead of the 550th Parkash Purb.

Both countries signed an agreement on October 24 and the corridor will be inaugurated on November 9 to facilitate Sikh pilgrims for pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the corridor from the Indian side and on the Pakistan side, Pakistan PM Imran Khan will open the corridor.
