Punjab Government to hold special Assembly session today, BJP to boycott session

Chandigarh: Amid the ongoing dispute between the Punjab government and the governor, the one-day assembly session to be held today is expected to be full of chaos. Many issues including stubble burning, electricity supply, GST will be placed on the table of the House for discussion by the AAP government. Along with this, Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP have prepared to encircle the government on issues like illegal mining, SYL, law and order, deplaning of Chief Minister, BMW's refusal etc. Also Read: Women’s Asia Cup 2022: Squads, schedule, dates; check details BJP, however is speculated to boycott Punjab Assembly special session today even though the government has withdrawn from its previous agenda of confidence motion regarding Operation Lotus, there is almost certain to be an uproar in the House over the horse-trading of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. Aam Aadmi Party will not let this opportunity pass. Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has approved the convening of the House after several days of conflict between the Raj Bhavan and the AAP government over the holding of the Legislative Assembly session. Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa has sent a list of public issues to Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan and demanded a discussion. The opposition raised SYL, lawlessness, guarantee of Rs 1,000 per month to women, unemployment, national security, illegal mining, fine of Rs 2180 crore by the National Green Tribunal, farmer suicides, corruption, support price of lumpy skin damages etc. A debate has been demanded. During the last few days, the tension between the governor and the government has been going on regarding the special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Governor Banwari Lal Purohit canceled the session scheduled for September 22 a day before on September 21 and after that the government decided to convene the session again on September 27.
