Punjab: Protesting patwaris call off strike
Patiala, May 9: The protesting patwaris have decided to call off their strike across the state on Monday after the intervention of Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa. Members of the Revenue Kanungo Association and the Revenue Patwar Union met with the Cabinet Minister to discuss their demands.
The Patwar Union immediately called off their strike in his presence at Circuit House in Patiala on Monday evening after the minister assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed soon.
On the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Revenue Minister held a meeting with agitating employees to resolve their grievances. He also expressed gratitude to the Patwar Union leaders for calling off the strike in the larger public interest.

The Revenue Minister said that the state government has accepted the demand of the union and the investigating officer in the vigilance case registered against patwari Didar Singh of Malerkotla district would be transferred.
The minister also informed that the remaining demands of patwaris would also be addressed soon by the government.
