Mohali, July 25: Four persons succumbed to Covid-19 in Punjab in the last 24 hours while 419 persons tested positive for coronavirus during this period. Two Covid-related deaths were reported in Jalandhar and one each in Faridkot and Patiala districts. As many as 74 patients have been put on life saving support — 65 on oxygen and nine in ICU. The positivity rate stands at 3.51%. Currently, the number of active cases in Punjab is 2,596. Punjab reporting over 400 Covid cases daily; Mohali worst affected Notably, Punjab has been reporting more than 400 cases every day for the last two days. The situation is worst in Mohali, followed by Ludhiana and Jalandhar. In Mohali, 57 patients have been found Covid infected in the last 24 hours. The active caseload is 630. There are 351 active cases in Jalandhar and 313 in Ludhiana. Apart from these, there have been 256 active cases in Patiala, 235 in Bathinda and 137 in Amritsar. Despite an increase in Covid cases in Punjab, no restrictions have been imposed by the Punjab Government. People continue to throng crowded areas without masks. There is no check on the gatherings.
