Punjab revenue officers on mass leave from June 1 to 6
Chandigarh, June 1: The Punjab Revenue Officers Association decided to go on a six-days mass leave to protest the suspension of their colleagues.
All revenue officers, including tehsildars and naib tehsildars have decided to proceed on mass casual leave from June 1 to 6 to protest the suspension of sub registrars of Ludhiana (east) and Hoshiarpur and ambiguity in the government’s instructions on no-objection certificates (NOCs) for land registration.

On Monday, the government ordered the suspension of Ludhiana (east) sub registrar Jeewan Kumar Garg and Hoshiarpur sub registrar Harminder Singh on grounds of illegally registering land deals. Harminder Singh Sidhu, the Zirakpur sub-registrar, was suspended a few days earlier on similar grounds.
To combat unlawful colonies, the revenue department has made obtaining a letter of approval from a competent housing authority a requirement for property registration in the state.
A meeting of the association was held today where the decision to go on mass casual leave was taken, said association president Gurdev Singh Dham.

The association also apologised to public for inconvenience caused owing to the leave.
