Jagjit Singh Kohli launches 'GurbaniTube' to commemorate 25 years of Gurbani live telecast
PTC News Desk: A new chapter in the digital broadcasting of Sikh religious content began on the sacred occasion of the first Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. TangoPlus Services Pvt. Ltd. has launched a dedicated digital platform called ‘Gurbani Tube’.
The platform has been launched during the silver jubilee year of the continuous live telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. The live Gurbani broadcast from Sri Darbar Sahib will complete 25 years on November 30, 2026.
Sikh religious content on a single platform
‘Gurbani Tube’ has been specifically developed for Gurbani and Sikh religious content. The platform is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Through the platform, devotees worldwide will be able to access live broadcasts from Sri Harmandir Sahib and other gurdwaras, Sikh religious TV channels, Gurbani Kirtan, Katha, Nitnem Banis, Hukamnama Sahib, Sikh history, documentaries and religious programmes at one place.
The platform will also feature libraries containing thousands of Gurbani Kirtans by renowned ragis and Katha by respected Katha Vachaks.
Initiative conceptualised by Jagjit Singh Kohli
‘Gurbani Tube’ has been conceptualised by Jagjit Singh Kohli, who has been associated with the historic initiative to begin the live telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.
After years of efforts, the live telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib began on ETC Punjabi in 2001. The broadcast later continued on PTC Punjabi.
The historic live broadcast completes 25 years in 2026, and ‘Gurbani Tube’ has been described as the next step in this journey in the digital age.
Aim to connect with youth
At the launch, Jagjit Singh Kohli said that after years of work, the dream of creating an independent digital platform dedicated to Gurbani and Sikhism had become a reality.
He said the main objective is to make the teachings and values of the Sikh Gurus easily accessible to devotees around the world. He stressed that digital technology can play an important role in connecting the younger generation with religious content.
He said that to connect with today’s generation, it is necessary to reach them through the technology they use every day.
Platform for devotees worldwide
‘Gurbani Tube’ has been positioned as different from regular video-streaming platforms, where Sikh religious content is spread across different channels and videos.
The platform aims to bring Sikh religious digital content together in one place. Along with live broadcasts from Sri Harmandir Sahib and major gurdwaras worldwide, it will offer Hukamnama Sahib, Ardas, Gurpurab events, Sikh history, documentaries and educational content.
Through the platform, devotees living in Amritsar, London, Vancouver, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, Dubai and California, among other places, will be able to stay connected with Gurbani and the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.

Jagjit Singh Kohli said technology should not be limited to entertainment but could also be used to educate and inspire people and strengthen their spiritual connection.
He said Gurbani is meant for everyone, and the aim of ‘Gurbani Tube’ is to provide anyone living in any part of the world, whether a Sikh or someone seeking spiritual knowledge, with immediate access to the message of the Sikh Gurus.
