The first batch of 5 Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) is slated to fly from France on Monday. The jets are expected to halt at UAE and reach Ambala, on Wednesday. As per the report, the aircraft will be inducted into the Indian Air Force on Wednesday. This will add strength to the IAF's fighter squadrons. The Indian Embassy in France on Monday said that the new Rafale jets add strategic depth and strength to India’s air combat capabilities. "They fly out of France today to join the growing Indian fleet of aircraft," it said. Last week, the Indian Air Force had said that its aircrew and ground crew have undergone training on the aircraft, including its advanced weapons systems which are fully operational now. The IAF also said that the efforts will focus on operationalisation of the aircraft post-arrival. Meanwhile, it has been expected that the IAF will deploy these Rafale jets in Ladakh in an order to strengthen its air combat capabilities in the sector. Reportedly, the modern fighter jet is equipped with a lethal HAMMER missile and a range of other potent weapons.
