Newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has officially taken charge as PPCC chief on April 22 in the presence of senior party leaders in Chandigarh.

Three-time MLA from Gidderbaha constituency of Muktsar district and a former transport minister, 44-year-old Warring was named the Congress’s state unit chief on April 9. He succeeds Navjot Singh Sidhu, who quit after the party's debacle in the recent Punjab Assembly election. Warring has taken over the charge along with the working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu at a simple ceremony, since the wheat harvesting season is at its peak. “Starting new inning today as @INCPunjab President with all your blessings. My profound gratitude to @INCIndia President Madam Sonia Gandhi Ji and my leader  @RahulGandhi Ji for reposing faith and confidence in me. Thankful to lakhs of workers/colleagues for their love and support” tweeted Raja Warring before taking the office. With civic polls around the corner, Warring has already dived headfirst into rallying the party. He, along with the working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu, has already covered about 30 assembly segments over the past week and met the workers there. “We will ensure the coronation of each and every worker right at his doorstep as each one of them is the shining knight in armour for our party,” Ashu and Raja warring said earlier.  Also Read| 12 test positive for Covid-19 at IIT Madras -PTC News
