Ramzan, the month of fasting in Islam begins today as the moon was sighted on Wednesday.
Muslim holy month of Ramadan will begin in Telangana on Thursday as the moon was sighted on Wednesday, Moon Sighting Committee announced.
Although weather in Hyderabad was cloudy, Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed announced that Thursday would be the first day of fasting month.
Arrangements have begun for “namaz-e-taraveeh”, special prayers offered every night throughout the month.
Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar when Muslims abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and join mass prayers at mosques.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramzan.
