RDX was used to carry out Ludhiana court blast, say sources
High-grade explosive ie RDX was used in the Ludhiana District Court bomb blast that left one person dead and five injured on December 23 afternoon, said sources on Friday.
The bomb blast took place in a toilet on the third floor of the old building of the Ludhiana District Court around 12.25 pm. Two courtrooms are located near the toilet.

The blast damaged the roof and walls of the toilet. Following the explosion, the bathroom grill fell on the vehicles parked on the ground floor.

Since lawyers were observing a strike on Thursday, there was not much footfall of litigants and their attendants at the court.
According to the sources, the middle section of the man's body who died in the blast was completely blown away, which was why it was being suspected that it could be a suicide attack.

Two teams from the NIA — one from Chandigarh and the other from the headquarters in Delhi — are investigating the Ludhiana court blast.
Following the incident, the Punjab Government has also put the state on high alert. The Union Home Ministry has also sought a report from Punjab.
