Reeling under a debt of Rs 3 lakh, a man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a fan at a village near Barnala on Thursday.

The family took him to the Civil Hospital, but he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The deceased attributed financial stress as the trigger for the suicide.

The body of the deceased was handed over to family members after post mortem. Meanwhile, the police has initiated an inquiry under 174 CrPC in the matter.
