Regional languages to play key role in revolutionising education, says Amit Shah
Bengaluru (Karnataka), May 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday stated that regional languages will play a crucial role in the revolution which has been taking place in the education system ushered by the National Education Policy 2020. During his inaugural address to the Nrupatunga University on the auspicious day of Basava Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya and Eid, the union minister said that the Narendra Modi-led government has vowed to realise the dream of making India a knowledge-based superpower. Shah further said that the government aspires to inculcate the culture of patriotism among students during the celebration of 75 years of independence (Azad ka Amrut Mahotsav). He also stated that in the last eight years 410 higher education institutions including six central universities, seven IIMs and 15 AIIMS, have been established in the country. He stated that the North East region, which had previously been neglected, has now been given priority in all developmental projects, including education, and that a Sindhu Central University has been established in Ladakh. Amit Shah also stated that the union government is working to develop India as a global manufacturing hub. He also praised Karnataka for setting an example for other states in terms of implementing the NEP-2020. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai, speaking at the event, noted that the government is focusing on the three E's: education, employment, and empowerment. He also stated that a new employment policy has been created that places a strong emphasis on boosting self-employment and entrepreneurship. The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Higher Education Minister for the vital role he has been playing for two years in implementing NEP-2020, stating that the union government has provided Rs. 55 crore to Nrupatunga University.
